Painted and printed by local Portland artist Claire Gunville, each print captures stunning moments from the knife-forging process. The Risograph's bright colors perfectly highlight the vivid hues seen during forging, embodying the spirit of craftsmanship from the workshop in Takefu Knife Village.
Through bold color blocking, these artistic prints celebrate the knife-making process with distinctive character. Each piece is printed borderless on high-quality paper at 8×10 inches, ready for display.
Risograph printing is a distinctive method that blends photocopying and screen printing techniques. Using a specialized Risograph printer, it creates vibrant, tactile prints through rich spot colors and stencils. This eco-friendly technique delivers high-quality results while remaining affordable and environmentally conscious.
The unique inks produce prints with a handcrafted feel. Made from soy-based, non-toxic materials, these inks require extra drying time and may smudge similar to newspaper ink. Each color is distinct to the Risograph process and appears differently in person than online.
A knife is a piece of art that a craftsman puts their heart & soul into.
