January 25 & 26
Knife Engraving with Michiko Kubota
Join us for an extraordinary two-day event featuring master engraver Michiko Kubota, where traditional craftsmanship meets modern knife artistry.
We're offering personalized knife engraving services throughout the day. Whether you're purchasing a new knife from us or bringing your own treasured blade, Michiko will be available to add her distinctive artistic touch.
We're also featuring an exclusive collection of Sakai Takayuki knives, where you can customize your own piece by selecting from beautiful 33-layer Damascus blades paired with various premium handle materials.
Throughout the day, we'll be serving complimentary grilled skewers from Bachchoy Boy and refreshing beverages including Momokawa sake.
Sunday, January 26, presents a rare opportunity to learn directly from the master herself. We're hosting intimate engraving workshops where you can learn the basics of this traditional craft. With just four participants per session, you'll receive personalized attention as you discover the techniques of Japanese knife engraving.
Each one-hour class includes hands-on instruction and your own engraved keychain to take home as a memento. Classes are scheduled at 10am, 12pm, and 2pm, with the same delicious food and drink offerings as Saturday. The class fee is $50 per person, and space is limited.
Join us for Chef's Night, where we celebrate the hardworking individuals who keep our city fed - that means you! It's a great opportunity to network, get to know, and catch up with fellow members of the Portland food industry.
Too often, those in the service industry are the ones helping other people have fun. Rarely are they recognized or given the same opportunities. Together with the help of Chef Tu David Phu, we aim to change that. Our Chef's Night events are love letters to the service industry. It's a chance for these awesome folks to feel celebrated for a change. Not to mention, meet fellow restaurant, food, and service industry folks. Everyone leaves in good spirits, and several more leave with a free kitchen knife and other sponsored goodies.
Get ready to meet the masters. Yu Kurosaki and Yoshimi Kato, blacksmiths all the way from Echizen, Japan, are coming to Los Angeles, Las Vegas & Spokane. Be prepared to witness new knife releases, free engravings, raffle prizes, and live knife forging demonstrations. This is an event you won't want to miss.
Meet the blacksmiths and craftsmen who create your favorite kitchen knives. These artisans have trained for years to uphold an industry that has been around for millennia. Once a year, we bring these craftsmen to the United States to allow people to share their enthusiasm and for the knife makers to receive feedback.
