For over 50 years, fourth-generation certified master blacksmith Katsushige Anryu cultivated the Anryu brand into the knife-making icon it is today. Established in the 1870s, Anryu knives have captured the hearts of countless knife aficionados and chefs worldwide with their impeccable performance, longevity, and beauty.
As one of the original founders of the Takefu Knife Village collective—home to some of Japan's most renowned knife-makers—Katsushige Anryu serves as its chairman and has created many of its finest pieces. In 2021, he passed the brand's knife-making torch to his nephew and long-time apprentice Takumi Ikeda, who will carry on the Anryu legacy of quality craftsmanship for years to come.
