Hado is a brand of knives established in 2019 by Fukui Co & Ltd, marking their first in-house knife production in 109 years. The name "Hado" symbolizes the company's commitment to the "road of blades" (刃道) for the next century, embodying the Japanese artisan spirit of continuous improvement. 'Do' (道) represents both a physical road and the mindset of Japanese artisans who tread the same path repeatedly, making steady progress. With each step, Hado aims for the highest quality.
At the core of Hado's philosophy is the concept of 'tamashi' (魂, soul), which Japanese artisans consider crucial. Hado's six-member team embraces craftsmanship beyond mere sharpness, with each member contributing unique skills. They pour their souls into each knife, creating blades that not only impress with their sharpness but also touch the user's spirit. Sakai, a region in Osaka with a rich history of handcrafted knives, has a tradition of 'Uchi-Hamono' (hand-forged knives) that has been passed down through generations—a legacy that Hado now continues.
